(Cont.) for this moment since the beginning of Season 4, when she told Francis to put her on the ticket. Frank said he planned all of the events of season 5, so that doesn’t seem like a stretch to me. And why else would she come back after Frank literally grabbed her by the face and showed her what real power felt like? Not only that, but Frank said in season 5 that he may love power more than Claire. So I think it’s a bit unfair to root for him while calling her corrupt and power hungry.

I completely agree with you on the fact that Frank endlessly ignored and even abused Claire. I think that was one of the main reasons she left him and wanted to change their relationship. My point is that if Claire would have wanted to “get revenge” on Frank or make him feel even a tiny bit of the same “abuse” she felt for so long, she should’ve kept him by her side. And I don’t mean that in a nice way. She could have used him and Frank would have felt (I think) a little bit like Claire felt before.

I was really excited to see Claire in the Oval as president, don’t get me wrong. My problem is that I think that we are going to get the same “dynamic” that we had is season ¾. Claire won’t really be able to get to feel Frank as miserable as she once felt and that’s what frustrates me.

On the other hand, I also agree with you on the fact that it is very possible that Claire has been planing this since season 4. I mean, she’s Claire Underwood. But there is still a part of me that thinks that the Underwoods do have feelings for each other. Their definition of “love” is clearly a lot different from ours. That’s why Frank saying that he loved power more than Claire wasn’t such a big deal for me, I think that that has always been kind of implicit. And that very special “Underwood love” was one of the reasons (I might be too cheesy) why Claire came back to Frank. Franks shooting was unpredictable and maybe Claire had some other plan to get into the Oval, but it definitely changed things between them.

Throughout season 5 I really did feel that the Underwoods still had that bunch of feelings towards each other. I mean, take the “movie scene” as an example. You could feel the tension (in a good way) between them, see the way they looked at each other and I interpreted that as “love”. I completely understand that many people don’t see that the same way as I do.

And maybe I came out as more pro-Frank and anti-Claire than I wanted to. As of right now I am rooting for Claire, I am really excited to see her become president and Frank taking a seat. I do believe that they are both are extremely power-hungry and corrupt, but not that Frank is somehow better than Claire.

Now, it is also very possible that the show will take a very unpredictable turn in the next season. I mean, maybe Claire pardons Frank after one episode and my whole logic goes to shit. Or maybe their dynamic changes in a way that we have never seen before, who knows. That’s one of the reasons I love this show so much, it always surprises me 🙂 So we will have to wait one year to actually see what happens 🙁

PS: I really enjoy answering these kind of questions/messages (even if we have different opinions). So thanks 😀

So I get what you were saying about not understanding Claire’s thought process and disliking her choice to turn her back on Frank and etc. But I disagree. Let me explain. In House of Cards, Frank endlessly ignores other people’s wellbeing in his strive for power. In some cases, he disregards Claire and sometimes even abuses her. You can say she knew what she way signing up for, or that she was complicit, but why would she want to put up with that? I think she has been planning… (cont.)

The whole answer is in the continuation 🙂
